And it was written in the charter of The Games that every twenty-five years there would be a Quarter Quell to keep fresh for each new generation the memory of those who died in the uprising against The Capitol. Each Quarter Quell is distinguished by Games of a special significance. And now on this, the one-hundredth anniversary of our defeat of the rebellion, we celebrate the fourth Quarter Quell. As we stand here twenty-five years strong of the failed rebellion of Mockingjay, we are reminded that even the strongest forces cannot defeat The Capitol. And, in penance for their uprising, twelve tributes shall be reaped from each district and compete in a total of ten games. The sole survivor shall remain as the victor."

The 100th Hunger Games were won by sixteen year old Graces Wyler from District 5 after she competed in three subsequent games to become the sole survivor.
The games were created to remind the districts that even those who are the strongest amongst them cannot defeat the power of the Capitol. President Augustus Snow announced this years games to the shock of all of the districts, earning mixed responses from the members of the Capitol.
These games took place in a replica of the Grand Canyons of America from the old world, where flesh eating vultures picked off and injured tributes throughout the games and a large tsunami trapped many tributes together leading to a brutal final showdown.
